What is it about my favorite CLAMP blonde? From his appearances in multiple works, Nokoru must surely be one of CLAMP's favorites, too. Not counting the initial doujinshi works, Nokoru appears in five separate manga series by CLAMP.


This is the place where most fans meet Nokoru for the first time, in the confines of a fantastical school called CLAMP Gakuen.

At his introduction, Nokoru is 12 years old, in grade 6 and kaichou (class president) of the Elementary Student Council. Nokoru is the youngest son of one of the wealthiest and most influential families in Japan. Brilliant, beautiful, and devoted to protecting the happiness of women everywhere, Nokoru has what seems like a sixth sense when it comes to ladies in distress. Without an athletic bone in his body, he gains supreme coordination when a lady is in jeopardy. Wanted by NASA for his precocious brains, this pint-sized prodigy has been running the Electrical Engineering department of the Imonoyama Group since he was 9. Kind and courteous, but he's not without his flaws. Nokoru hates to do paperwork and constantly concocts elaborate schemes either to get out of doing it or simply to amuse himself. Nokoru is rarely seen without his trademark fan...and it's probably not just coincidence that the Rijichou of the Campus also carries one. In his spare time, Nokoru is secretly the Choukan (Boss) of the Duklyon Campus Police, and rarely is there something happening on the Campus that he doesn't already know about...


While Kentarou and Takeshi are valiantly protecting the campus in fine sentai-parody style, wouldn't it interest them to know that their Boss is none other than the sixth-grade scion of the Imonoyama family? As befitting the genre, Nokoru's face is never seen, nor does he appear to the boys other than on a monitor. That doesn't mean he isn't true to form in sending the brave campus police on wacky adventures, whether it's facing down their classmate and secret enemy in the Imonoyama mall or having to portray their secret identities in the school play!


Grown up, impeccably dressed, and far more somber than we're used to seeing him, Nokoru has come into his own in X. As the Chairman of CLAMP Gakuen, he offers sanctuary to Kamui, Kotori, and Fuuma as well as a secret: the purpose of the school grounds to house the holy sword for Kamui. The spirit that always seeks to indulge and care for women is still intact, though, as he immediately moves to wrap his coat around Kotori and charm her with a smile. Tragedy, however, is not far behind when Kamui makes his choice and unknowingly marks the paths to come for himself and Fuuma.


As Yuuko explains at the beginning of Syaoran's quest to retrieve Sakura's feathers, you will meet people in the other worlds, sometimes more than once, and they will not be the people you know. However, both times we meet Nokoru, he is still the same core personality, though we see much more of him in Piffle World than in Koryo Country.
